Divisibility Rule of 4

Divisibility Rule of 4 :

A natural number is divisible by 4, if the number formed by its digits in units and tens places is divisible by 4.

Justification:

Consider a three digit number abc.

We have,

         overline{abc} = 100a + 10b + c

Rightarrow    overline{abc} = 100a + (10b + c )

Rightarrow    overline{abc} = 100a + overline{bc}

Rightarrow    overline{abc} = ( 4 times 25a ) + overline{bc}

Rightarrow    overline{abc} = a multiple of 4 + overline{bc}

Rightarrow    overline{abc} is divisible by  4, if overline{bc} i.e. the number formed by digits in units and tens places is divisible by 4.
